Our Programs

Assistance to Refugee Couples (ARC) provides marriage enrichment and family wellness education so that Vietnamese couples will be equipped to better manage their marriages and families in healthy ways. ARC trainers serve as healthy family experts, providing training through workshops, media outlets and other outreach activities.

Computer Class

Information and Training Center (ARC-ITC): part of the ARC program, the center coordinates the social marketing component of the ARC program and develops culturally and linguistically appropriate curriculum and messages on healthy marriage for Indochinese Americans (Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians). ARC-ITC produces multi-media training materials and interactive radio and television talk shows.

Service Center provides low-income families and individual with immigration services and meets family reunification needs through translation and application assistance.

Neighborhood Empowerment and Support through Teamwork (NEST): this national community development model incubates and mentors growing community-based and faith-based organizations in their progress towards self-sustainability.

Vietnamese Seniors Association (VSA): Our senior associations meet at least once a month to voice community concerns, attend workshops on subjects such as health benefits or financial education. At the same time, they also interact and participate actively in fun, community-building activities like picnics, musical performances and more. VSA seniors also have the option of signing up with the STEP portion of the VSA. STEP is a peer support group made up of Vietnamese Seniors who have experienced post-war trauma and may or may not have been ex-political prisoners. In STEP, seniors share stories about their experiences with torture and the war. The stories are told in an open environment, where people who have had similar experiences support one-another and acknowledge the truths and lessons of the Vietnam war experience. Through STEP, the valuable stories of important members of the community may be told, remembered and given the dignity which they deserve.

Community Technology Center (CTC): Everyone is welcome at our Community Technology Center, which is open to the public during our regular office hours. We publicize the centers’ availability to the Vietnamese community through Vietnamese newspaper, radio and word of mouth. We also have a class which meets once weekly and teaches the very basics of computer usage, such as “How do you print a document?” and “How do you send an email to a friend or family member?”

ESL/Citizenship Assistance: The English classes are designed to assist community members to acquire basic language skills for communicating and getting around in their daily lives. The program also partners with our in-house immigration program in an effort to acquire different levels of U.S. legal status.

Women’s Group: Vietnamese women of the community come together and organize activities of their own! In the Women’s Group, Vietnamese women organize potlucks, volunteering events at churches, fundraisers, show-and-tell sessions, recipe-exchanges, field trips, activities and more. The group also comes together to attend health workshops and family enrichment workshops, as well as sign-up for other services available through the branch offices. Every year, the women also attend regular health fairs and receive basic check-ups. They are also able to access free women’s health checkups through the group. The Women’s Group is largely self-run, leaders are elected within the group, and activities organized by the group. Come out to learn valuable information for your family and to have fun and be part of a community!
