    BPSOS-DelV & The Greater Philadelphia Vietnamese Community set to host the first Viet Summer Street Festival in Philly Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 on 6th street between Washington Ave & Federal Streets, 12pm - 8pm! Vietnamese "Ao Dai" (traditional dress) showcase, Art Contests, Watermelon Contests, and much more! Hope to see you there!

  • Move to End Violence

    Recently promoted to the National Communities Against Domestic Violence Program Manager, Nancy Nguyen from BPSOS-Delaware Valley ends her time with Cohort 1 of the Move to End Violence, joining 150 leaders, strategists, and movement-makers from across the country to discuss the state of the women's movement in the US and the challenges that lie ahead.

  • David Phan: Unbiased Violence is Unacceptable

    Our hearts go out to the family of David Phan, a 14-year-old whose constant struggle over his sexuality eventually led him to suicide. We stand in solidarity with them in their hopes that no other children will be targeted due to their sexuality.

  • Take Action: School Closures

    The School District of Philadelphia has recently announced the potential closure of nearly 40 school buildings, including multiple high schools, sparking rallies and protests. Further information on the future of these schools is to be announced.

  • January 21, 2013 BPSOS – Delaware Valley joined with 1 Love Movement, Asian Americans United, Providence Youth Student Movement & Asian Student Association of Philadelphia, and the Lowell Family Unity Network to hold our first ever "Asian American Rising Leaders Training" where 68 Asian Americans came out to be trained on issues affecting our communities (sexism, gender equality, immigration, deportation, school violence, and more!)   • August 10, 2012 BPSOS – Delaware Valley is announcing its second Viet Vote registration on August 26th, 2012. BPSOS's mission is to empower the Vietnamese community by raising its vote count in the upcoming 2012 presidential election. The first registration was a success, with about 79 voters, 500 talks and 30 volunteers. Please come out and lets make history!! Visit Philly Viet Vote for more information.

  • August 13, 2012 - Southeast Asian Root Farm Garden Project was a success once again this year. It helped reach out to Vietnamese youth and seniors alike to discuss healthier lifestyles through gardening.

                    

  • August 19, 2012 - The Summer Youth Bike & Environmental Program (SYBEP) gained recognition once again this year. SYBEP is known to help benefit the community by educating it about environmental justice and resource equity. They raised awareness on the concepts of global warming, pollution and sustainability.
  • August 22, 2012 – BPSOS- Delaware Valley is requesting for volunteers to come out and assist with the voting. Remember, volunteering is fighting for what you believe in!
  • September 22, 2012 - BPSOS hosted their 9th annual Mid-Autumn festival at the PYA soccer field in Pennsauken, NJ.  They were able to raise over $1100 during the festival towards youth programs! The festival was sponsored by Confident Day Care, Cooper, Earpcohn, Horizon Blue Shield, and Nha Thuoc Tay. Click here for more information.
  • October 19, 2012 - BPSOS collaborates with TUASA, the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia, & One Love Movement for a showcase held at Temple University. The event stressed the importance for the API community to get politically involved, presenting two spokespeople in a mini-debate and a speaker from One Love Movement; the  closed with a feature from spoken word artist Bao Phi.   • October 19, 2012 - Congratulations to the fraternity Delta Chi Psi for winning the API Collegiate race, a competition between five different student groups from around the city to collect voter registrations for the API (Asian and Pacific Islander) community. Between the five groups, over 100 voter registrations were collected!
  • April 1st, 2013 - BPSOS-Delaware Valley Recieved 4th year of support from Philadelphia Youth Network! - BPSOS recieved a grant of $20,000 to continue our 4th year of the Summer Youth Empowerment Project and our service-learning project - which will employ 50 youth this summer!
  • Boat People SOS Received $15,000 Horizon Blue Cross Shield of New Jersey (BCBSNJ) Grant - BPSOS received a grant of $15,000 to fund its Senior Health Literacy Project. The Senior Health Literacy Project will equip Vietnamese seniors with increased knowledge and options to manage chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and obesity.   • Boat People SOS Received $40,000 Aetna Foundation Grant - This grant will help BPSOS reduce health disparities for Vietnamese women in Camden County, equip Vietnamese women with the knowledge about their high risk of cervical cancer, provide them with the resources to adopt healthy behaviors to detect, prevent, and treat cervical cancer, and help them become part of the wider national effort to eradicate cervical cancer among Vietnamese women and girls.   • Boat People SOS Received $11,000 Camden County Human Services Grant - Volunteers of the Community Planning & Advocacy Council (CPAC) evaluated a total of 43 applications, including that of BPSOS, for the 2012 Camden County Human Services Grant Funds. The Camden County Freeholders happily announced BPSOS-Delaware Valley as the recipient of a grant in the amount of $11000 for our Asian Youth Empowerment Program!
