Our Programs

Mississippi Case Management Services:

As a member of the Mississippi Case Management Consortium we provide an array of one-on-one case management and other services to help families achieve and maintain safe, secure and sustainable housing on their long road to recovery. Since our disaster case management services began in 2006, we have assisted more than 1,000 families with financial assistance, healthcare prevention and navigation services, home repair and rebuild services and interpretation and translation.

Road to Independence through Savings and Education (RISE):

This program utilizes an Individual Development Account (IDA) matched savings program to assist low-income clients with their long-term plan for economic independence. Specifically, this program helps participants save earned income for designated purposes (buying one's first home, first car, or starting one's first business) in matched savings accounts. Every dollar in savings deposited into an IDA by participants is matched on a 1:2 basis by federal and private funds, promoting savings and enabling participants to acquire a lasting asset.   Participating families use their IDA savings, including the matching funds, to capitalize a small business or purchase a home.

Community Awareness Campaign on Occupational Safety (CACOS):

Vietnamese-Americans are productive workers who try as hard as the next person to be up to speed on workplace safety.  But at times, language and cultural barriers can make their learning curve a little steeper.  Therefore, we launched the Community Awareness Campaign on Occupational Safety.  This program trains Vietnamese-American workers in occupational safety rules and measures to prevent on-the-job accidents, injuries and fatalities.

Community Against Domestic Violence (CADV):

Domestic violence is a prevalent and growing problem within the local Vietnamese community, particularly among immigrant and refugee women. Vietnamese victims of domestic violence face incredible barriers to justice. Hindered by cultural beliefs, few victims come forth and seek help. The few who do come forward often do not have sufficient English proficiency to access mainstream services.  To achieve justice for Vietnamese survivors of domestic violence BPSOS-Biloxi works to increase awareness among the Vietnamese community of the prevalence domestic violence and the array of services and benefits available to victims. We also work to facilitate access to legal and social services for victims.  We achieve this through focused outreach, education and culturally and linguistically appropriate services.

Professional Service Center:

BPSOS-Biloxi provides the following services as part of our commitment to assist Vietnamese-American communities in their search for a life in liberty and dignity:

  • Immigration services

  • Translation of legal documents (Vietnamese-English and English-Vietnamese)
  • ESL classes
  • Citizenship classes

Senior Services:

BPSOS-Biloxi is committed to providing services for Vietnamese elders who currently face numerous barriers to information and services. BPSOS uses an evidence-based, peer support model, Seniors and Trauma Survivors Empowerment Program (STEP), to organize self-help groups which facilitate the provision of information on a broad range of relevant issues.
