Our Programs

Community Technology Center (CTC) – CTC aims to bridge the digital divide by providing access to computer usage. Our bi-cultural and bi-lingual staff educates clients to basic computer skills including MS. Word, MS. Excel, MS. PowerPoint, access the internet, and emailing.

English as Second Language (ESL) Classes – We offer Basic and Intermediate ESL classes to assist Low English Proficient learners to speak, listen, and write proficiently in English. Basic ESL aims to teach LEP on survival English such as making emergency calls, navigate for transportation, and conversational greetings. Intermediate ESL class aims to prepare the unemployed worker for an entry level position, prepare newly arrived immigrants and refugees towards higher education.

Citizenship Education - Our citizenship program utilizes the materials from the USCIS to educate our clients. The citizenship program hones four critical skills: listening, speaking, understanding, and writing in English. Areas of concentration include: N-400 form, Civic questions, everyday life and mock interviews with experts.

Assistance to Refugees Couples- Information & Training Center (ARC-ITC) Funded by ORR, we strive to promote healthy relationship between partners by utilizing the Prevention Relationship Enhancement program (PREP). We empower families by equipping them with key skills to building healthy relationship in their own family, and ultimately, building a more harmonious community.

Fish Contamination Education Collaborative (FCEC) – In partnership with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and SGA, we have outreached and educated community members about healthy fish eating diet so as to reduce DDTs and PCPs contaminated toxins affecting our community. As the result of our dedicated effort, we have received the Citizen Excellence in Community Involvement Award and Environmental Justice Award issued by the EPA.

Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) – In partnership with United Way of Greater Orange County and Legal Aid Society of Orange County, we will host tax days at BPSOS from January 15, 2010 – April 15, 2010. This project will directly boost the income of individuals and households while indirectly promote a healthy economy.  Please look out for our next EITC 2011 workshops in 2012.

 

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP)- In partnership with Council on Aging, we have a volunteer-supported program that provides free counseling and educational services for older adults and their families.
