OFFICE $2,500 TO SUPPORT CADV PROGRAM
August 4th, 2011 – Silver Spring. With numerous organizations competing for funding, BPSOS, Inc. was chosen as one of the few recipients for Verizon Foundation’s grant in supporting the Community Against Domestic Violence (CADV) program.
CADV is one of BPSOS’s longest standing programs. Each year, dozens of abused and trafficked men and women seek help at its door. The case managers and attorneys work together to file protective orders, file for divorces, secure residential status, apply for housing, and perform other necessary steps to help these women gain self-empowerment. Its in house ESL program helps strengthening with victims’ language skills. The youth program gives children of these families a save place to play and study. The health program provides resources to relevant health information and affordable health coverage. BPSOS also provides loans to those with refugee and asylee status to help start their own businesses.
BPSOS, Inc. is a national non-profit organization that helps new immigrant communities, such as the Vietnamese, assimilate into the American culture by empowering, organizing, and equipping individuals in their pursuit of liberty and dignity. BPSOS – Maryland was first started in 2001 with a small room and two staff. Now, under the managing of Mr. Dan Tran, it has expanded to full house of two attorneys and five programs to accommodate the needs of the community.
