Using the CFC to Help BPSOS Build a Stronger Vietnamese-American Community: A Quick Guide

Who: You! Supporting services to seniors, trauma survivors, trafficked men and women, victims of domestic violence, and other Vietnamese Americans who need help with learning English, attaining financial stability, and mastering other vital skills.

What: Pledging to support the national, nonprofit organization Boat People SOS by contributing through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).

Why: BPSOS needs your support! CFC donations help make our ongoing domestic and international programming possible.

BPSOS is a national, Vietnamese-American community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting Vietnamese refugees and immigrants, many of whom are low-income and underserved, in their search for a life of liberty and dignity by empowering, equipping and organizing individuals and communities towards self-sufficiency.

Our work spans fourteen (14) communities across America, including Falls Church, VA; Adelphi, MD; Pennsauken, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Springfield, MA; Westminster (Orange County), CA; Louisville, KY; St. Louis, MO; Chamblee, GA; Bayou La Batre, AL; Biloxi, MS; Houston, TX; Gretna, LA; and Charlotte, NC.

BPSOS serves over 10,000 people per year, including direct services, community development and advocacy. These programs form a web of services to address the intertwining and compounding effects of unmet needs on refugee and immigrant families. Our efforts overseas include combating trafficking of Vietnamese women and workers to Taiwan and Malaysia.

How: Employees of Federal civilian, postal, and military agencies are eligible to make pledges to BPSOS during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th). Pledges can be given by deducting a small amount from each paycheck, or by making an immediate gift of cash or check. You can pledge $1 per pay period or make a one-time donation of $100 or more– we appreciate gifts of all sizes.

To donate, ask your supervisor or human resources representative about the CFC at your workplace. Every employee should receive a pledge card and "catalog" that lists all eligible charities. Find BPSOS in the catalog and use CFC # 10038 to make your pledge.

BPSOS is one of thousands of charities that applied to become a member of the CFC. The application process was rigorous – BPSOS met or exceeded each of the 10 accountability standards set out by CFC administrators!

If you do not work in a Federal civilian, postal or military agency, ask your employer about workplace giving programs. Your employer may match your gift to BPSOS.

Donating through the CFC is a convenient and worry-free way to support BPSOS and the great services we provide – just use CFC # 10038 and choose to have part of your gift deducted each pay period or make a one-time gift!
