Director of Family Services Department

Boat People SOS, Inc. (BPSOS) a national Vietnamese-American community-based organization with 15 branch offices nationwide is seeking for a motivated and experienced individual for the position of Director for Family Services Department. With an annual budget of $ 1.7 M, this departmenthas programs serving youth, seniors, and families in 15 different locations. 

Responsibilities

Support and share the work load of the Department Director in overseeing, monitoring and supporting the different programs in the department as well as in developing existing or new programs; ensure continuity by serving as acting/interim Program Manager or Department Director when needed. 

The Director’s primary responsibilities include: 

  1. Administering budget and activities of all programs in Family Services Department
  2. Providing day-to-day supervision of program and administrative staff to ensure the effectiveness of all activities
  3. Providing guidance and support to staff on technical/programmatic as well as project management/budget issues
  4. Assisting in conceptualizing long-term strategies and developing operational plans to address the needs of the Vietnamese community
  5. Building partnerships with public agencies, private organizations, and corporations
  6. Identifying new funding sources to sustain the development and expansion of the Family Services Department
  7. Recruiting, training, and supervising program staff and volunteers to replicate programs to branch offices
  8. Organizing information workshops, training seminars, and conferences
  9. Preparing reports to the Executive Director  and funding agencies; Coordinating activities of Advisory Board

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience in community work), plus two years of non-profit management;
  2. Excellent organization and analytical skills;
  3. Superior oral and written communication skills;
  4. Must have ability to handle multitasks and work under deadlines;
  5. Fluency in English is required
  6. Must be both a self-starter and a team player, and ability to work in multi-ethnic environment;
  7. PC computer literacy, proficient in World, Excel and Internet usage;
  8. Occasional work on the evening and weekends;
