     Boat People SOS, Inc.- California (BPSOS-CA) is the locally incorporated branch of a national Vietnamese American non-profit organization.  Our national organization was established by and for Vietnamese immigrants and refugees in 1980 in San Diego, California.  Since 2000, we have provided an array of culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Vietnamese community in Orange County, California.

     Our mission is to empower, organize, and equip Vietnamese individuals and communities in their pursuit of liberty and dignity.  To accomplish this mission, our bilingual and bi-cultural staff and volunteers provide direct services that respond to the urgent and often overlooked needs of the most vulnerable members of the Orange County community. 

     Our office is located in the "heart of Little Saigon" in Orange County.  With more than 184,000 Vietnamese residents, Orange County has the largest number of Vietnamese of any country in the United States.  The country's Vietnamese population doubled in size from 1990 to 2000 and makes up more than 30% of the Vietnamese population statewide.

     Since we launched branch operations in 2000, we have served to over 5,000 individuals through an array of culturally and linguistically services.  We are committed to providing services that help all of our clients - whether they have just immigrated or have been here for many years - achieve self-sufficiency.  Our programs and services are designed to respond to the changing needs of the Vietnamese population.
