Successfully advocated for the Resettlement Opportunities for Vietnamese Returnees (ROVR) Program.

Reopened the Humanitarian Resettlement (HR) program.

Extended the McCain Amendment Program, which provides that certain sons or daughters of former Vietnamese re-education center detainees are to be considered refugees of special humanitarian concern and may be eligible for resettlement in the U.S. if they meet qualifications criteria.

Successfully advocated for the establishment of the Priority One refugee program.

Advocated for new laws:

2. Trafficking victims protection
3. Human rights in Vietnam
4. Citizenship for Amerasians
