OUR IMPACT: PUBLIC HEALTH

BPSOS has empowered Vietnamese-American communities to take control of their health.

The overarching goal of the BPSOS Health Awareness and Prevention Program (HAPP) is to motivate Vietnamese American communities to become more educated about the risks of breast, cervical, liver, prostrate, and lung cancers.

As a result of HAPP, thousands of Vietnamese Americans across the United States have reached higher levels of knowledge about different types of cancers and demonstrated short-term and long-term changes in their behavior towards health issues.

Indicators of behavioral changes include: accessing screening services for the first time, navigating health care systems independently, serving as community workers to promote health awareness, and taking initiative to access preventative health care.
